Bashteel Train Station

Client: Hassan Allam Construction Scope: Structural Design Review Location: Giza, Egypt

Bashteel station consists of the main building in addition to three car tunnels, two pedestrian tunnels, and service buildings. The main building consists of sixteen parts; the main structural system of the floors consists of reinforced concrete flat slabs with drop panels at column locations and drop panels with variable thickness. In addition, edge drop beams are located and supported on the RC columns. Some locations use a ribbed slab system. Solid slab systems are also used with drop beams with variable thickness. The columns are supported on a concrete raft foundation with different thicknesses. The tunnel's main structural system consists of a 40 cm slab with 90cm dropped beams resting on RC walls, which are supported on an RC raft foundation with different thicknesses. The tunnel's main structural horizontal system consists of a reinforced concrete slab 300/400 mm thick, in addition to drop beams with dimensions 1200 x 900 mm. The horizontal elements are supported on RC walls with thicknesses equal to 700 mm and 450 mm at the locations of slabs with thicknesses of 400 mm and 300 mm, respectively. A concrete raft foundation, varying in thickness from 600 to 800 mm, supports the RC walls.
