Cabinet Building

Client: Ministry of Internal Affairs Scope: Structural Design Review | Shop Drawings Location: New Administrative City, Egypt

The Cabinet building consists of a basement, ground floor, first floor, and second floor, in addition to the roof. The footprint of the basement is about 18,000 sqm, about 2,000 sqm for the mezzanine and 14,000 sqm for other floors. The spacing between columns in both directions varies from 8.4 x 8.4 m to 12 m. Additionally, there are two areas with large halls where the column spacing reaches 25 x 34 meters. To minimize the additional stresses induced on the structural elements by temperature and concrete shrinkage, expansion joints divide the building.
