Client: Abraj for Urban Developments Scope: Structural Design Review | Strengthening of Existing Columns Location: Cairo, Egypt

This project has been renamed from La Place Retail and Boutique Hotel to U Venues. The project is on a built-up area of 17,000 sq m in the basement and G+2 levels, divided into 8 zones that accommodate retail and office spaces. The structural system of the constructed floor is a reinforced concrete flat slab with a widely used thickness of 300 mm and 600 mm thick drop panels supported by reinforced concrete beams. The floors are supported on a series of reinforced concrete columns, shear walls, and cores, which are supported on reinforced concrete isolated footings with a 250 mm thickness raft connecting the isolated footings. The structural design review includes strengthening the existing columns and foundations, ensuring the structural safety of the two newly added upper typical floors, and repairing the roof of an existing building.
